The Testing Center can accommodate any student who is unable to test in the classroom because of an accident, illness, or other excused absence from class. Students must have their instructor's permission before scheduling a test date. The Testing Center can proctor paper-based and computer-based tests. However, the Testing Center cannot:

  1. Accommodate entire classes except for emergency situations and only with approval from Testing Services,
  2. Proctor tests for students who wish to raise their grade,
  3. Retain blank tests on file, or
  4. Maintain passwords for unassigned tests because each test must be assigned to a student.

The Testing Center is open *Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for student walk-ins. The Testing Center closes at 4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary during these open times. Students will be tested as seats become available. Photo ID is required to test.

*The Testing Center may close for the lunch hour, when short staffed, or due to unforeseen circumstances.

Testing check-in is in Room C2101 of the General Studies Building on the Blountville campus. Testing is proctored in the Testing Center, Room C2106.

Instructors who would like a student to complete a paper-based test should:

  1. Complete the Make-Up Testing Form and attach it as a cover sheet to each exam for student identification purposes.
  2. Deliver the form(s) to the drop box outside the Testing Center, Room C2106 in the General Studies Building on the Blountville campus.  
  3. The Testing Center staff will not be responsible for picking up or delivering exams. Unclaimed exams will be destroyed at the end of each semester.
  4. Instructors may pick up completed tests in Room C2101, the Counseling and Testing Services front office.

Instructors who would like a student to complete a computer-based test at either Blountville or Kingsport should:  

  1. Fill out the Computer-Based Test Make-Up Form.
  2. Submit a separate form for each student authorized to take a computer-based make-up test.
  3. Submit the form online to Testing Services.

Make-up testing at Blazier-Wilson Hall on the Kingsport campus is by appointment only. Students will need to register for a specific date/time by going to www.NortheastState.edu/Testing and choosing “Schedule Now”. Next, choose the "Kingsport" campus and "Make-Up (Kingsport)" and then complete the remaining required fields.

Instructors at the Kingsport sites who would like a student to take a complete a paper-based test should:

  1. Complete the Make-Up Testing for Kingsport Form and attach it as a cover sheet to each exam for student identification purposes.
  2. Hand deliver forms to Blazier-Wilson Hall, Room BWH103, or place in the drop box outside Room BWH135.
  3. An email will be sent to the instructor once a student has completed the test.
  4. Pick up completed tests in Room BWH103. The Testing Center staff will not be responsible for picking up or delivering exams. Unclaimed exams will be destroyed at the end of each semester.


Testing times will be limited to the course time block (no untimed tests or extended time). Students who qualify for extended times should test in the Center for Students with Disabilities.
