FAQ - Northeast State at Kingsport
Q: What classes do you offer?
A: Day and evening courses are offered at the Northeast State at Kingsport teaching site. The site offers a variety of courses in liberal arts, technical, health-related professions, nursing, and continuing education programs.
Q: Is advisement currently available at the site?
A: Each student is assigned a faculty advisor based upon his or her major. Students needing academic assistance are encouraged to seek advisement from their assigned advisor. To schedule an advisement appointment with your advisor, please log onto Appointment Plus. Students may call 423.323.0229 if they are unsure of their advisor’s name and/or office telephone number or contact Blazier-Wilson Hall at 423.354.2525 for a list of days/times that advisement will be available in Kingsport.
Q: Can I buy books at the site?
A: Books for classes taught in Kingsport are provided through the bookstore at Northeast State’s Blountville campus. The Bookstore may provide books and other learning materials for purchase at the Kingsport site. The site’s administrative office can provide additional information regarding specific dates and times bookstore representatives are available at the site. Items may also be purchased at the Bookstore on the Blountville campus.
Q: Are Library services available?
A: The Student Resource Center at the Kingsport site is linked to the library on the Blountville campus via an automated system and offers access to the online catalog, the Internet, and a variety of full-text databases.
Q: Does the site have open computer lab time scheduled?
A: The Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE) provides computer use for students in the Student Resource Center, KC331. The Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM) provides computer use for students in the Study/Testing Center, KM137.
Q: If I get my parking permit at one Northeast State campus, will it be good at all other Northeast State sites?
A: Permits are valid at all Northeast State sites. All vehicles operated on a Northeast campus by students, faculty, and staff must be registered annually with the College. A valid parking hangtag documenting the registration must be prominently displayed when the vehicle is parked on campus. Parking permits may be obtained at the Northeast State Campus Police located on the first floor of the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE) building.
Q: Can I register for classes at the site?
A: Students may register, drop/add classes, review billing information, etc. at the site by using the My.Northeast system.
Q: Are student support services available, such as tutors?
A: Students attending the Kingsport site are afforded the same student support services as students attending the Blountville campus. These services are provided by personnel working onsite and also by Northeast State staff from the Blountville campus who visit the site on a regularly scheduled or as-needed basis. Specific dates and times services are available and posted at the various sites. Additional information can be gained by visiting the administrative office at the site.
Q: What are your operating hours of the Kingsport site?
A: Administrative office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Administrative office hours for the Regional Center for Health-Related Professions are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
