FAQ - Northeast State at Bristol
Q: What classes do you offer?
A: Day and evening courses are offered at the Northeast State at Bristol campus. The campus houses the Entertainment Technology Program, and offers a variety of courses in liberal arts and continuing education programs.
Q: Is advisement available at the campus?
A: Each student is assigned a faculty advisor based upon his or her major. Advisement services at the Bristol campus are provided by staff from the Blountville campus at select hours and days each term. Students needing academic assistance are encouraged to seek advisement from their assigned advisor. Students may call 423.323.0229 if they are unsure of their advisor’s name and/or office phone number.
Q: Can I buy books at the campus?
A: Books for classes taught in Bristol are provided through the bookstore at Northeast State’s Blountville campus (operated by Validis Resources) or online at the Bookstore.
Q: Are Library services available?
A: The Learning Resource Center at the Bristol campus, Room BR 309, is linked to the library on the Blountville campus via an automated system and offers access to the online catalog, the Internet and a variety of full-text databases.
Q: Is basic first aid available?
A: Yes, please see the security officer in BR334. A representative from Health Services visits the site as well to provide blood sugar and blood pressure tests as well as flu vaccines. Please check with the receptionist to see the schedule.
Q: Does the campus have open computer lab time scheduled?
A: A designated open computer lab is available during regular business hours, and availability is based on the number of occupants utilizing the service at any given time. All computer labs are available for open student use when not occupied by regularly scheduled classes. In addition, course software, Internet access, including access to Northeast State’s Library (Blountville), is available in the labs. Learning Support and Microsoft Word/Excel software are also available in the Learning Resource Center.
Q: If I get my parking permit at one Northeast State campus, will it be good at all other Northeast State locations?
A: All vehicles operated on a Northeast campus by students, faculty and staff must be registered each academic year with the College. A valid parking hangtag documenting the registration must be prominently displayed when the vehicle is parked on campus. Parking permits may be obtained at Northeast State at Bristol’s Security Office or through the Campus Police on the Blountville campus. The permits are valid at all Northeast State locations.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Parking is available in the designated portion of the
Shelby Street parking lot located behind the site. Overflow parking is
also available at the Bank Street parking lot. Please refer to the blue
bars on the parking map. Northeast State hang tags must be visibly
displayed in the vehicle. See the security officer on duty in BR334 to
obtain a tag.
Q: Can I register for classes at the campus?
A: Students may register, drop/add classes, review billing information, etc., at the campus by using the My.Northeast system via Northeast State’s home page, http://www.northeaststate.edu/.
Q: Are student support services available?
A: Students attending the Bristol campus are afforded the same student support services as students attending at the Blountville campus. These services are provided by personnel working onsite and also by Northeast State staff from Blountville who visit the campus on a regularly scheduled or as-needed basis. Specific dates and times are posted at the site. Additional information may be obtained by visiting the Bristol campus administrative office or by contacting Student Support Services or Advising Resource Center for further details.
Q: What are the operating hours of the Bristol campus?
A: Administrative office hours when classes are in session are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Between semesters the administrative office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
