What is College Access?
Access to college can be difficult for several reasons. Some of the most common barriers are money, distance, and academic readiness. Some students have other responsibilities such as family and jobs that make college difficult. College Access Programs work with school age and adults and their families in planning for post-secondary training and education.

What is the focus of services provided by College Access Programs?
College Access Programs offer services that are individually designed to student and family needs. Most services fall into the broad categories of Career Exploration, College Exploration, Academic Readiness, College Enrollment Navigation (admissions, financial aid, and scholarship deadlines), and support in Transitioning to College.

Where are services available?
College Access operates programs in the high schools of the Northeast State service region, Carter, Johnson, Unicoi, Sullivan, and Washington. Adult programs are available through Adult Education centers and the campuses of Northeast State. College Access also partners with community based organizations to support youth and adults in pursuit of education.

Is there a fee to sign up?
Because all of our programs are grant funded, all services are completely free and in some cases, College Access can help students pay for testing and application fees.

How do I sign up for services through College Access?
There are several ways to enroll in College Access Programs. An enrollment form is necessary since the programs are grant funded. High School students and families can enroll through their high school or by calling 423-323-0223 or emailing collegeaccess@northeaststate.edu. Students already enrolled at Northeast State can visit the office on the main campus in the General Studies Building C2301, or by making an appointment for one of the other campuses. Adult Education students can enroll through their Adult Education Center or by calling or emailing.
