What do
students do for fun at Northeast State?
Although academic learning is our primary focus, we
believe a special knowledge is gained from having fun and good friends. Because
of Northeast State's friendly atmosphere, you will experience camaraderie with
faculty and students. Former students often comment that the college's
"family" atmosphere is what they missed most after departing to a larger
four-year university or entering the workplace.
At Northeast State, we're committed to a well-rounded college experience
for each student. Our selection of clubs and organizations offers you the
chance to make friends and get involved in interesting and meaningful activities.
We have more than 20 student groups that meet regularly. Some are honor
and professional organizations, including Alpha Sigma Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa,
the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Student
Tennessee Education Association. Others relate to the specific interests of
students, such as community service. If you enjoy working for a cause, we have
service organizations too, or you can join with other students to create a club
of your own.
Interested in developing your leadership skills? The Council
for Leadership, Advocacy, and Student Success (C.L.A.S.S.) and the Northeast
State Student Navigators provide numerous opportunities to represent the student body and to
network with state and local leaders. Every semester, your campus calendar will be
filled with chances to mix and mingle. Don't miss our annual Fall Finale
and Spring Fling, where fun games and cookouts are the order of
the day. You'll also get topnotch entertainment and cultural
enrichment through Northeast State's ongoing cultural activities and the Theatre
Program's schedule of plays. Workshops,
seminars, and lectures on a variety of topics are sponsored each semester to
help you gain a better understanding of yourself and the world in which we live.
