Doyle Lawson Summer Institute

Want to learn about sound, lighting, production and performance techniques from a bluegrass legend? Doyle Lawson is heading Northeast State Community College's Summer Institute for Technology. Taking place July 22-24, the workshop will focus on event management and feature the perspective of Lawson, an International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame performer. It will be held at the Northeast State at Bristol teaching site, 620 State St., in downtown Bristol.

Workshop facilitators are professionals who have set up for a broad range of event types and in multiple venues. Day one will focus on event lighting, day two on live sound, and day three on recording. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver have recorded almost 40 albums and have received multiple Grammy, Dove, Inspiration Country Music, International Blue Music Association, and Society for the Preservation of Blue Music Award nominations.

The fee for the three-day event is $50. For more information or to register, call 423-354-5520.
