The financial aid process does take time, so start right away. Financial aid funds are often limited, so it is important that you apply early. Though we continue to award financial aid throughout the year, the students who apply early usually receive larger grant awards.
Please read all of the information you receive from the Financial Aid Office. If we request information from you, return it quickly as failure to do so may result in delays in your financial aid. Should you have questions about anything we send you, please call so we can address your concerns.
If selected for verification, the student must complete a Verification Worksheet, submit copies of the parent(s)/student/spouse Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Federal Tax Return Transcript and copies of all W-2s from employers, and any other untaxed income documentation to Northeast State. student accounts will occur approximately two weeks after classes begin for the
semester. A notification of the
disbursement date will be posted on the Northeast State website. Students may expect to receive their refunds
via direct deposit or check after tuition, fees, books (only if charged to the
account) and any other approved charges are deducted. Checks will be mailed to the permanent address of the student
listed in Banner.
Federal Work-Study Program
The Federal Work-Study Program is unique with respect to the purpose it serves. The program offers students an opportunity to earn a portion of their college cost. Students have an opportunity to integrate their classroom education with actual work experience and hopefully develop the skills and attitudes they will need to succeed in future employment positions. As community college students, many are in college specifically to prepare for the job market. Organized work-study training can have a positive impact on their futures.

Satisfactory Academic Progress
Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is a set of standards for financial aid progress.
All financial aid recipients are required to meet satisfactory academic guidelines established by Northeast State and financial aid standards of progress, pursuant to Federal regulations.
The intent of this policy is to insure that students who are receiving federal and state aid are making measurable progress toward completion of a degree, certificate, or diploma program in a reasonable period of time and a reasonable number of credit hours attempted in their program of study. THE POLICY LOOKS AT ALL CREDIT HOURS ATTEMPTED, NOT JUST THOSE TAKEN WHILE RECEIVING FINANCIAL AID. ALL CLASSES COUNT.
