Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for Financial Aid
Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for Financial Aid Recipients
Northeast State, as required by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE), has established a Satisfactory Academic Progress Standard (SAP) for all recipients of financial assistance through any Title IV program (Federal Pell, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work Study Program (FWSP), Federal Stafford Loans, and Federal Parent Plus Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), Student Support Services Grant and federal portion of Tennessee Student Assistant Award). Progress is measured by the student's cumulative grade point average (GPA) and credits earned in relation to those attempted and the length of the academic program. The policy is published and mailed along with every first award letter or is available upon request from the Financial Aid Office. These policies are updated annualy as the DOE mandates changes to be made and it is therefore necessary to be familiar with these policies.
