Northeast State at Kingsport: Frequently Asked Questions

What classes do you offer? 

Day and evening courses are offered at the Northeast State at Kingsport teaching site.  The site offers a variety of courses in liberal arts, technical, and continuing education programs. 

Is advisement currently available at the site? 

Each student is assigned a faculty advisor based upon his or her major. Students needing academic assistance are encouraged to seek advisement from their assigned advisor. Students may call 423.323.0229 if they are unsure of their advisor's name and/or office telephone number.

Can I buy books at the site? 

Books for classes taught in Kingsport are provided through the bookstore at Northeast State's main campus (operated by Validis Resources).  The Bookstore may provide books and other learning materials for purchase at the Kingsport site.  The site's administrative office can provide additional information regarding specific dates and times bookstore representatives are available at the site.  Items may also be purchased at the Bookstore at the main campus.

Are Library services available? 

The Student Resource Center at the Kingsport site is linked to the library on the main campus via an automated system and offers access to the online catalog, the Internet, and a variety of full-text databases. 

Does the site have open computer lab time scheduled? 

The Kingsport Center for Higher Education provides computer use for students in the Student Resource Center, KC331.

If I get my parking permit at one Northeast State campus, will it be good at all other Northeast State sites? 

All vehicles operated on a Northeast campus by students, faculty, and staff must be registered each semester with the College.  A valid parking hang tag documenting the registration must be prominently  displayed when the vehicle is parked on campus.  Parking permits may be obtained at Northeast State at Kingsport's administrative office.  The permits are valid at all Northeast State sites.

Can I register for classes at the site? 

Students may register, drop/add classes, review billing information, etc., at the site by using the MyNortheast system via Northeast State's home page,www.NortheastState.edu. 

Are student support services available, such as tutors? 

Students attending the Kingsport site are afforded the same student support services as students attending at the main campus.  These services are provided by personnel working onsite and also by Northeast State staff from the main campus who visit the site on a regularly scheduled or as-needed basis.  Specific dates and times services are available are posted at the site.  Additional information can be gained by visiting the administrative office at the site.  

What are your operating hours of the Kingsport site? 

Administrative office hours are  Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
