Registered Nurses coordinate and provide Health Services for students, faculty, and staff that include:

  • Flu Shot Clinics

  • Assessment of minor illnesses
  • Some over-the-counter (non-prescription) medicines such as Tylenol, nasal decongestants, and antacids
  • Blood Pressure monitoring
  • Height and weight measurements
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) scores
  • Blood Sugar tests
  • Health information and brochures
  • Nutrition information
  • Referral information for community health services
  • Selected health education and screening programs

Health questions and concerns are welcome at any time. You do not need to be sick to visit Health Services. Students with chronic health problems should visit Health Services to discuss any special concerns with the Nurse before attending classes or whenever problems arise. No information about your personal health will be released without your written permission unless it is required by law.

If you have an emergent issue (e.g., asthma attack, allergic reaction, laceration, burn, acute vomiting, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, fever greater than 102 degrees, acute mental health problem, or Sexual Violence) ask to see the Nurse immediately.

Emergencies are handled in order of seriousness of the presenting problem, but the staff is adept at handling serious issues and will work quickly to assess your problem and provide appropriate treatment. If the Nurse is not available, medical emergencies are handled by the Northeast State Police Department by calling 423.677.7927 (emergency cell) or 9-1-1.
