A.A.S. Nursing Program
Admission Assessment - A2   

Introduction  

The A2 is a computerized nursing entrance exam required for admission to the Northeast State A.A.S. Nursing Program. The results will be used to determine readiness for and success in the program. Students must have a Northeast State Application for Admission on file before taking the A2. 

Test Dates 

The A2 will be available, by appointment, March - June (prior to the June deadline to apply for the A.A.S. Nursing Program). Students who need to retest in order to attempt to earn the necessary points must wait one week before retesting. Retesting will not be allowed for students who take the A2 for the first time during the last two weeks of testing.   

Test Fee 

The test cost is $50.00 and must be paid in cash.   

 A2 Registration Form       

Print the A2 Registration Form and submit it along with $50.00 in cash to the Cashier's Office (Room P203A) on the second floor of the James Pierce Administration Building on the main campus in Blountville. The form and fee may also be submitted at Blazier-Wilson Hall at 222 West Main Street, Kingsport. 

Schedule a Test Date  

A test date may only be scheduled after the A2 Registration Form has been submitted and the $50.00 fee paid. Students who schedule a test without submitting the A2 Registration Form and paying the $50 will be cancelled. 

 

A.A.S. LPN to RN Nursing Program
LPN to RN ENTRANCE EXAM 
 

Introduction   

The LPN to RN Entrance Exam is an admission requirement only for LPNs who have already completed the required core classes for Northeast State's A.A.S. Nursing Program or who will be completing the required core classes at the end of the 2015 Spring Semester and are applying for the LPN to RN program. The cost is $50.00. The test has 75 questions. Most students will complete the test in 90 minutes but will have three hours in which to complete the exam. 

Test  

The LPN to RN Entrance Exam covers Fundamentals Specialty, Medical-Surgical Specialty, Maternity, Pediatrics, Psychiatric/Mental Illness, and Professional Issues in Nursing. At this time, only the Fundamentals Specialty and Medical-Surgical Specialty section scores count.  

One retest is allowed per calendar year. The entire LPN to RN Entrance Exam must be retaken in order to score higher on the Fundamentals Specialty and/or Medical-Surgical Specialty sections. There is a two-week mandatory waiting period between the initial test and the retest. 

The  LPN to RN Entrance Exam will be available, by appointment, January and February (prior to the March deadline.)  Students who need to retest in order to attempt to earn the necessary points must wait one week before retesting.

Registration Form And Fee 

The LPN to RN Registration Form along with the $50.00 test fee may be submitted at Blazier-Wilson Hall at 222 West Main Street, Kingsport, or at the Cashier's Office (Room P203A) on the second floor of the James Pierce Administration Building on the main campus in Blountville. The $50.00 test fee must be paid (cash only) before scheduling a test date.  Students who schedule a test date without submitting the Registration From and paying the $50.00 test fee will be cancelled. 
 
Schedule a Test Date  

All scheduling will be done online. Students must have an ACCESS CODE in order to schedule a test date.  Students will only receive an ACCESS CODE after the paying the $50.00 fee.  ACCESS CODES may not be shared with other students.  

Study And Review Materials 

The Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-PN® Examination, 5th Edition, and/or Mosby's Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-PN are available for check-out at the Basler Library on the main campus and at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE) in Kingsport or for purchase at the Northeast State Bookstore.
