The Multicultural Center seeks to promote northeast State Community College's commitment of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and overall inclusive excellence practices by broadening multicultural awareness and sensitivity, leadership, and encourages cross-cultural collaborative relationships through recruitment, engagement, and success.

The space features a comfortable lounge area with tables and chairs, providing a welcoming space for faculty, staff, and students to relax or connect with classmates or colleagues. Other resources include charging stations, an interactive LED monitor, Zoom access, and a wide selection of books and board games.

In support of retention and degree completion, a limited number of Educational Access and Diversity Scholarships will be awarded for the academic year. Recipients must be Tennessee residents and have at least a 2.75 overall combined GPA. Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria for underrepresented populations to be considered for the Educational Access and Diversity Scholarship:

  • Hispanic/Latino/Spanish origin, Black or African American, Asian, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander origin as documented by the Northeast State Office of Admissions and Records.
  • Registered with Accessibility Services (formerly the Center for Students with Disabilities) at Northeast State.
  • Classified as a United States Military Veteran. Proof of veteran status must be on file with the Veteran & Military Student Success Center to qualify under military veteran criterion.
