Engage & AchieveThe Office of Student Life facilitates leadership training and development opportunities that impact campus and community populations, supports student organizations/clubs and related activities, and promotes student advocacy and success. As part of this mission, the office partners and/or consults with various Northeast State offices to offer leadership development activities that engage students with the campus and their communities. Programs include the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL). In addition, the office administers Northeast State's Student Government organization, the Council for Leadership, Advocacy, and Student Success (CLASS), and the Student Traffic Court.

The Northeast State Council for Leadership, Advocacy, and Student Success (CLASS) strives to fulfill Northeast State’s vision by promoting student success through the improvement of student life, by providing leadership through the development of campus-wide leadership development activities, and by advocating for the student body within the framework of the college through effective communication between students, administration, faculty, and staff. Tennessee Intercollegiate State LegislatureThe Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL) is a forum for the top echelon of the state's campus leaders to exchange ideas, express their opinions, and learn how government works.

TISL's Senate and House of Representatives, which first convened in 1966, meet in the legislative chambers of the State Capitol each November.

The judicial branch of TISL is the  Tennessee Intercollegiate Supreme Court, which presides over the  Appellate Moot Court Collegiate Challenge (AMC3) at the same time the TISL legislature is meeting.

The AMC3 is a moot court competition for non-law students. Colleges form teams of two to five members to prepare a brief and argue for the petitioner and the respondent before the Court.

Producers, editors and reporters of TISL Media communicate in a variety of ways about events at TISL. Current initiatives include videos, a printed newsletter at the General Assembly, blogging, and Twitter.
