 ACT WorkKeys

Attention Northeast State Students!

Starting in the 2020 spring semester, Northeast State will begin awarding three hours of college credit for WorkKeys certification (Gold or Platinum) and resume. The credit will be applied to the College’s Advanced Technology programs in Industrial Technology through the College’s prior learning assessment process. The credit will apply to these concentration areas:

- advanced manufacturing
- automotive body/collision repair
- automotive service
- engineering design
- machine tool
- manufacturing engineering
- mechanical
- motorsports
- welding/metal fabrication
- chemical process operations technical certificate

You will need to turn in your Gold or Platinum WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate® and personal resume to Deidre Close, Registrar at Northeast State. Her office is located in the Admissions in the Pierce Building on the Blountville campus.

ACCUPLACER® is a computerized assessment and placement test. It is not required but an option for students who have placed into learning support courses. You may schedule to take the exam on the Blountville or Kingsport campus. If you prefer proctored remote testing for ACCUPLACER® via zoom, then please email the Testing Center at testing@NortheastState.edu. The $10.00 fee should be paid online. Using Google Chrome, Go to the registration website. Click on “Payment for Testing Services” then “Payment for ACCUPLACER ®.” Make sure the payment is complete before you come to the Testing Center.

Go to ACCUPLACER® for information about testing requirements, scores, and placement.

Prepare for the test by using the free ACCUPLACER® web-based sample tests on your computer, smartphone, or tablet at https://accuplacerpractice.collegeboard.org/login. Create an account and select “Next-Generation Practice Tests”. Two options for preparation: 1) “Learn as You Go” provides immediate feedback after each question is submitted and includes an explanation for the correct response and 2) take the “Sample Tests”. The sample tests are similar to the real test, so you will know ahead of time what your experience will be like on test day. (Scores on the sample tests do not guarantee that you will receive a specific score on the actual ACCUPLACER® test.)
