Compensation - Job Evaluation Process
Whenever there is a new job or a reorganization that
significantly effects the essential functions of a job, or a change in the
scope of an existing job that causes its level of responsibility to change, it
should be evaluated and the salary grade assignment should be verified.
The process of evaluating a job begins with the preparation of an evaluation
request, completed by the immediate manager, endorsed by the next level of
management, and sent to Human Resources. This should be accompanied by a
new job analysis questionnaire and job description.
Human Resources, along with the
supervisor and VP will use the point factor process to re-score the position.
Human Resources will share their preliminary findings with
the hiring manager. If the new level is compatible with other jobs in the
functional area and with comparable jobs elsewhere in the college, the salary
grade assignment will be confirmed, and the recommendation for reclassification
will be sent to the President for approval.
