Effects of
Changing Enrollment
Changes in
enrollment status and/or withdrawing from Northeast State can result
in a balance owed to Northeast State and a loss of eligibility for financial aid. Below is a schedule on how aid will be adjusted based
on changes in a student’s enrollment:
General Effects
on Financial Aid
Students who
drop classes during the first 14 days will have their
Federal Pell, Federal SEOG, TSAA, and Lottery Scholarships adjusted
based on their enrollment status. Other scholarships and funds may
be impacted.
- Students must
be in attendance at least 60% of the semester to earn 100% of their
aid. Any student who totally withdraws or stops attending all their
classes without officially withdrawing prior to the 60% point will
have their aid adjusted for the semester. This may result in a
balance owed to Northeast State.
- Any student
who is reported as never attended by their instructors in any
classes will have their financial aid adjusted to the number of
hours actually attended. This may result in funds being owed to
Northeast State and the federal government.
- Withdrawing
from or auditing courses can negatively impact your Satisfactory
Academic Progress (SAP) standing with Northeast State. Please click

Effects on the
Tennessee Lottery Scholarship
- Students who
totally withdraw from Northeast State during the first 14
days will have their Lottery Scholarship(s) cancelled for that
semester. However, students will not lose future eligibility for the
lottery scholarship if they re-enroll within 16 months from
their high school graduation date.
- Students who
totally withdraw from Northeast State after the first 14
days of a semester will permanently lose future eligibility for
their lottery scholarship(s).
- Any student
who is enrolled as a full-time student, 12 or more hours, and drops
below 12 hours after the first 14 days of a semester will not have
adjustments made to their lottery award(s) for the current semester.
The student will, however, lose future eligibility for their lottery
scholarship(s) unless they submit an appeal to withdraw from
class(s) and it has been approved by the Northeast State
Institutional Review Panel.
