The Dental Assisting program offers the student either an AAS degree or certificate. It is composed of didactic and clinical instruction and is designed and organized to promote the personal and professional growth of each student in the dental setting. The main objectives of the program are to prepare the student to function in the dental setting and to academically qualify for the Dental Assistant National Board certification examination and the Tennessee Board of Dentistry application process.

At this time the State of Tennessee does not require dental assistants to sit for a State Exam. Students are encouraged to sit for the National Dental Assisting Exam as it grants the student greater opportunities.
