Registering for Classes

Your Life. Your Schedule. The perfect fit for you!

Here at Northeast State, we strive to provide students with courses taught using a variety of teaching sites, instructional methods and times to fit your needs best.

Students are encouraged to register as early as possible for the greatest flexibility when building a schedule.

All degree and certificate-seeking students must speak with an academic advisor before registering for classes. Student accounts will have advising holds preventing adding and dropping classes.

FAQs

Do I need to meet with an advisor before registering?

Yes! All students who are degree seeking (not special non-degree) must meet with an academic advisor before registering for classes.  During these advising sessions, advisors will ensure each student has the correct major listed on their account and provide an outline for what classes the student should take to graduate on time.  Taking classes that are not required for a students specific degree will result in financial aid not paying for the class and potentially not graduating on time. Meeting with an advisor to plan courses is very important!

Do I need to wait for this semester's grades to register?

No! Students can register for classes for the next semester before they receive their final grades.  If a student does not pass courses needed as pre-requisites, they will be administratively dropped from any future courses where the pre-requisite is required. Waiting until you receive final grades can negatively impact students by courses being full.

How do I know what courses I need to take?

Academic advisors will help students plan their academic courses for their selected major.  Additionally, all students have access to Degree Works, a degree audit program through their MyNortheast account.  For information on using degree works, visit the Degree Works website. Curriculum guides are also available for print through the academic catalog.
