A: TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program by the U.S. Department of Education. TRiO provides a safety net of intrusive services and creates a Learning Community to retain students until they graduate and/or transfer. Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Northeast State and have established need for academic support. All applications to TRiO are reviewed individually by the TRiO Director. Applicants are notified of their status by the Director.

Q: Do I qualify for TRiO Student Support Services?
A: All participants must qualify on the basis of income eligibility and/or first-generation college student status, and/or documented disability. Income eligibility is determined by family size and household taxable income for the previous year. Disability status is based on students being registered with Accessibility Services at Northeast State.

A: Each student at NeSCC is assigned a Faculty Advisor upon enrollment based on their major. Students may also receive assistance from the Advising Resource Center (ARC) and the Career & Workforce Development Center. Students who need tutorial assistance can also receive help from The Learning Center (TLC) on the first floor of The Learning Resource Center (Basler Library on Blountville campus). TLC may also be available at other NeSCC campus locations. Private tutoring may be possible for students willing to pay. The TRiO Tutor Coordinator will make inquiries for students from TRiO Tutors.
