Most people hear the word Honors and imagine harder classes, heavier workloads, and more assignments. We think Honors can be something much more meaningful.
At Northeast State, Honors is an intentionally designed academic community built around curiosity, conversation, and connection. It's a place where students challenge ideas, encourage one another, explore questions that matter, and discover opportunities they may never have expected.
We believe some of the most important learning in college doesn't happen because a course requires it. It happens because curious people choose to learn together.
The Northeast State Honors Program is designed for students who are curious, motivated, and ready to make the most of their college experience.
If you're not sure whether you qualify, we'd love to talk with you. Every student's journey is different, and we're happy to answer questions about eligibility and the opportunities available through Honors.
Joining Northeast State Honors is not only a recognition of your academic excellence, but an opportunity to join a supportive community! You will certainly become more competitive for transfer scholarships and employment opportunities, but perhaps more importantly, you will join a community of supportive faculty and peers. Northeast State Honors classes offer you a safe place to explore ideas and concepts with other highly motivated students like yourself! Honors students support one another, naturally forming study groups, so you are never on your own. Our honors faculty are some of Northeast State’s most innovative and student-centered instructors, and they will be happy to discuss their individual courses with you. You will find in the honors community a challenge to be the best thinker that you can be.
As an honors student, your interests are not limited to the classroom. You can serve as a paid mentor or mentor/tutor. You can become active in the newly formed Honors Student Association, even serve as a leader. HSA members will help the Northeast State Honors Advisory Board respond to honors student needs, and plan events in the Honors Institute specifically designed for honors students.
Northeast State Honors is thrilled to have you onboard and is looking forward to nurturing you as you achieve your goals. Never hesitate to stop by my office, L303A, to let me know how we can better serve you.
Whether you have questions or just want to learn more about Honors, my door is always open.
