April is Sexual Assault Awareness MonthSexual violence is a pervasive issue. It's crucial to emphasize that victims are never to blame for the violence they experience.

Sexual Violence Statistics

Statistics provide insight into the prevalence and impact of sexual violence:
  • On college campuses 13% of all students experience rape or sexual assault, with rates even higher for undergraduate women (26.4%) and students with nonconforming social identities (21%).

  • 26.4% of female and 6.8% of male undergraduate students experience rape or sexual assault involving physical force, violence, or incapacitation.

  • Since entering college, 5.8% of students have experienced stalking.

  • Women ages 18-24 are at an elevated risk of sexual violence-on-campus and off, students and non-student alike.

  • Male college-aged students (18-24) are 78% more likely than non-students of the same age to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.
