The Administrative Professional Technology (APT) program prepares individuals for a variety of positions in today’s dynamic office environment. Courses in current office procedures, software applications, office management, and interpersonal communications prepare students for careers as administrative assistants, office managers, patient account representatives, physician or hospital coders, and legal office administrators.
Courses are offered online or in-person in the evening with three to five class sessions during the semester.
After completing program requirements, students should be academically prepared to take the following:
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exams: Word Associate, Excel Associate, and PowerPoint Associate
- Certified Administrative Professional (CAP)
- Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification exam*
*Requires successful course completion of ICD-PCS and CPT Coding.
However, successful completion of the program does not guarantee a passing score on the certification exams.
