Physical wellnessPhysical wellness involves actively striving to maintain a healthy with by participating in consistent physical activity, consuming a nutritious and balanced diet, and refraining from behaviors that jeopardize your health, such as smoking/vaping, accessive alcohol consumption, and recreational drug use. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can yield substantial and life-long benefits and also has a positive impact on emotional well-being.

Here are 7 Tips for Staying Healthy:

  • Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Sleep recharges your inf and body.
  • Move regularly! Take a brisk walk, do jumping jacks, go for a hike, play basketball, dance, and do whatever you like to get your body moving. Regular physical activity helps to reduce stress and improve overall mood.
  • Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats provides essential nutrients that support bodily functions, energy levels, and disease prevention.
  • Prioritize yourself by taking time for self-care! Explore your hobbies and creative outlets, maintain social connections, practice mindfulness and meditation, set healthy boundaries, unplug from technology, and read a book…the possibilities are endless.
  • Beware of substance misuse. Do you binge drink alcohol when you are alone or with friends? Do you reach for marijuana when you feel stressed? Is your misuse becoming a problem? We can help! Please reach out to Counseling Services.
  • Value sexual health and safety. Practice safer sex, get screened for STIs and respect your body and the body of someone else. Consent is imperative. Please visit the Sexual and Domestic Violence Prevention for more information.
  • Become health aware. Preventive health care is important! If you do not have health insurance check out the free and reduced fee clinics below.
